A Complete Inside / Outside Flooring Solution for a Holmes Chapel Home

Having lived in their 15 years old barn conversion for some years, Mr and Mrs Cook, who live just outside of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, were ready for change. They had planning permission approved for a single-storey extension, and were keen to seize the opportunity for a total revamp of some of the downstairs rooms.

The customers were planning to introduce a new contemporary Siematic kitchen into their enlarged space, whilst choosing flooring that complemented an internal characterful exposure brick wall, as a nod to the previous agricultural and rustic heritage of their home.

To blend and bring together the 'old' and 'new', the homeowners selected for their large dining kitchen, snug, hallway and downstairs cloakroom, the Flaviker Dakota Grigio porcelain wood effect tiles, which replicates aged wood flooring, whilst offering a stylish and premium, practical hard-wearing solution. A gas fired underfloor heating system was laid under the tiles for extra warmth in Winter months.

To complement the grey hues of inside flooring, and create more of an inside / outside feel when the bi-fold doors were open, Mr and Mrs Cook chose a stunning large format tile collection, opting for Flaviker X20 Blue Savoy Graphite (60cm x 120cm).

And, our customers were so thrilled with the service and end result, they were eager to share their experience:-

What impressed you most about Real Stone, Tile & Bathroom?

Everything!

From the initial advice on what tiles would work particularly well given our requirements, to assisting selecting the right tiles (and grout colour) for both inside and out, help in calculating quantities, liaising with the manufacturer in Italy in regards to specific queries, to finally arranging a seamless delivery, nothing was too much trouble.

How was your instore experience?

The team was hugely helpful. Austin one of the two directors was more than happy to spend time taking us into the warehouse and talking us through the options for the outside areas. We never felt rushed and he was as keen as us, to make sure we made the right choice.

On our second visit when we were selecting the porcelain wood effect tiles George, a super knowledgeable sales adviser actually laid out into a pattern several of the tiles, in several different colourways, as they came in a 'plank style' format, and this was it was easier for us to see how they would look when laid down, so could more easily make a colour choice. The Flaviker Dakota porcelain wood effect tiles are available in several tonal colours and from darker shades of brown to more greyish tones. We wanted to achieve a more muted natural oak finish with grey hues coming through.

A third follow up visit, saw us selecting the grout, from their 50 colours in their Kerakoll range, again with lots of super useful input from Leigh, Austin's co-director.

And how did the delivery go?

The team actually held onto the tiles for us, as the build was delayed by a few weeks. We arranged a time and date for delivery, and the drivers called us on enroute to keep us updated on their arrival time. We were actually at work at the time due to other last minute commitments, but our builders were on site to meet the planned delivery, and the handover of the tiles was seamless.

And, for the most important question, how happy are you with the finish?

Absolutely delighted. As you will see from the photos, the finish both inside and out, is fantastic. We definitely made the right choice in selecting the right tile specialist for the project and the right products to achieve the finish we wanted.
